‘Stir up Sunday’

Launching in the farm shop on Monday 9th November

We will have 40 kits available for this live Zoom Event which takes place on Sunday 22nd November 2020 at 11am!

How about a traditional activity with your kids during lockdown?

Stir Up Sunday is a tradition which is believed to have started in Victorian times, families would come together to get their fruit puddings stirred up, steamed and stored ahead of Christmas. Each family member would take a turns to give the ingredients a good mix which signalled the start of the festive season. Fruit puddings and cakes were known to be better if they were made in advance and allowed to mature. It is thought that the name Stir Up Sunday comes from The Book of Common Prayer that was read at church on the Sunday before advent which says, ‘stir up, we beseech thee, O Lord’

Here at Secretts we decided to recreate this tradition by bringing you a ‘Stir up Sunday” pudding kit to make with your children. Perfect for your own Christmas Celebration or as a gift. We have teamed up with trained food teacher Ruth who runs her own cookery school (all online currently) here in Surrey. Ruth will be taking you through the recipe live on Zoom at 11am on Stir up Sunday. We have provided all the dry ingredients in our kits and you just need to add the fresh ingredients (see below).

Here is some more information for you on what our kit contains and what you need to provide.
