Autumn is one of our favourite times on the farm, and Pumpkin Week is when everything comes to life. If you’re planning some pumpkin picking in Surrey this year, here’s a simple look at what you can expect when you visit us.
Your trip starts with a relaxed, family‑friendly Halloween trail. It’s got a bit of everything with a few spooky scenes, fun props and sets that you can explore and interact with as you follow the scavenger hunt towards the pumpkin fields. All the props and scenes you’ll see along the way are made by hand here at Secretts. Our small creative team builds, paints and puts everything together themselves, from the wooden characters to the displays tucked into the walkways.
Once you reach the pumpkin patch, you’ll find thousands of homegrown pumpkins in all shapes and sizes. We grow a big mix every year, from the classic Harvest Moon, to huge ghosts, goosebumps, Big Moose and plenty of quirky varieties. Whether you’re carving, cooking or decorating, take your time choosing your pumpkins, enjoy some family photos in the fields, and load up your wheelbarrow with your favourites.
Afterwards, there’s food and drink in the paddock for a tasty refuel. We serve a simple, homemade menu with BBQ favourites, hot dogs, pumpkin soup, pumpkin curry, our well‑loved pumpkin cake, and hot & cold drinks. Everything is cooked on site, and we also make our mulled cider in small batches by hand. We’ll also have Crumpy’s Smoke Shack on hand cooking burgers for those that love a homemade style burger, with The Coffee Can serving up excellent coffee.
There are always plenty of fun activities for children dotted around the paddock too: mini pedal tractors, biscuit decorating, marshmallow toasting, spooky crafts, glitter face painting, a hilarious magic show and a haunted house for older kids. Most activities are £3pp and can be paid for on the day.
If your family enjoys dressing up, we run a friendly fancy‑dress competition with the pumpkin fields as a backdrop. There are plenty of photo spots across the farm, especially around the displays we build each year.
