Do I need a ticket?
No, you don’t! You can simply turn up and enjoy the picking experience.
What are your picking times?
We’ll be open for picking from 11 AM sharp, closing strictly at 2 PM. To make sure you have plenty of time to gather your delicious fruit, please arrive before 2 PM. We will close promptly at 2 PM.
Where do I go to pick?
Head straight to our Pick-Your-Own (PYO) glasshouse. You’ll see signs to guide you directly there.
How can I check fruit availability?
To avoid disappointment, we recommend checking on fruit availability! Just send an email to info@secretts.co.uk the day before or on the morning of your visit.
Are there any facilities available in the picking fields?
Facilities are limited directly in the fields. However, toilets are available near our Farm Shop, which is about a 5-minute walk. If you’re looking for food or drink, both Squires Garden Centre Cafe and our Farm Shop are a close walk from the picking area.
Why are you only open for picking on Fridays?
We wish we could open more often! We only grow a specific number of strawberries, and if we were to open on a Saturday as well, there simply wouldn’t be enough fruit for everyone. Opening on a Saturday alone wouldn’t solve the issue, as the demand would still outstrip our supply. We also have limited staff available on Saturdays, which impacts our ability to host picking sessions.
Will you be holding picking sessions every Friday going forward?
It’s very likely we will, but we encourage you to keep a close eye on our social media, website, and the poster outside the shop for the most up-to-date information. We’ll confirm whether we’re opening that week on the Tuesday prior to the Friday session.
Is there a chance you’ll have a Saturday picking session in the future?
There’s a chance we might offer Saturday picking down the road. However, it really depends on our crop availability, so we can’t promise anything just yet. We’ll confirm whether we’re opening that week on the Tuesday prior to the Friday session.
How much is the produce?
It varies depending on the crop. Our delicious strawberries, for example, are priced at £8 per kilogram.
Why are you only open from 11 AM – 2 PM, and not more days of the week?
Opening our Pick-Your-Own (PYO) fields seven days a week, from 9 AM to 5 PM, just isn’t financially viable for us right now. We know many of you would love to visit more often, and we truly appreciate your enthusiasm! However, the daily challenges of growing—from unpredictable weather and pest control to the sheer labour involved in cultivating and maintaining healthy crops—mean that operating extended hours would lead to significant losses rather than sustainable growth.
We’re a small, family-run farm, and every decision we make is carefully considered to ensure we can continue to provide you with fresh, high-quality produce for years to come. Limiting our PYO hours allows us to manage our operational costs effectively, focus our resources where they’re most needed, and ultimately, keep our farm a viable business. Thank you for your understanding and continued support. it means the world to us.
